Along the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay, with views to downtown San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, Sherwood worked with Marta Fry Landscape Architecture and the California Department of Parks and Recreation on the master planning and detailed design for Eastshore State Park. Though the site was designed to provide active recreational spaces and amenities, the primary function of the restored landscape created new and enhanced habitat, vital to the ecosystem of the Bay. To ensure the resiliency and natural functionality of this landscape, we applyed our experience in hydrology and stormwater management to create a landscape which accommodated sea level rise through adaptive bay edge design. As the site civil engineer, we developed designs for all aspects of grading, drainage, utilities, and vehicular circulation. Through an extensive community participation process, our team hoped to create a natural, functional amenity for current and future generations.
