Pershing Hall

Sherwood was selected by the Presidio Trust as part of an interdisciplinary team to complete design work for the rehabilitation and historic preservation of the Presidio’s Pershing Hall. The former Officer’s Hall was adapted to become a LEED-Gold bed and breakfast in the heart of the Presidio Park. Sherwood was responsible for site utilities, erosion control, grading and drainage. One of the biggest site challenges was working to meet LEED requirements for the site runoff in siting the drainage facilities in this carefully managed historic landscape. As part of the approach to stormwater management Sherwood proposed to integrate a bioretention cell within an adjacent area proposed for future remediation. This allowed the Trust to gracefully integrate a landscape-based stormwater management feature with minimal maintenance requirements.
