Charitie Ropati

Design Engineer

Charitie Ropati is a student at Columbia University and studies Civil Engineering on the water resources track with concentrations in earth and environmental engineering & anthropology. Originally from Alaska, she advocates on behalf of her native community with land stewardship, water rights & stem equity issues at the national and international level. She has keynoted at the Partnership Forum at UNESCO in NYC earlier this year on behalf of her community. She is incredibly passionate about building water and wastewater infrastructure for climate vulnerable communities and is excited to join the team at Sherwood Design Engineers in NYC. This past summer she had the opportunity to work at a Indigenous non-profit and helped provide Indigenous communities throughout Alaska, with water and wastewater services.

Fun Facts: Charitie spends much of her time outside of her work, hiking & going outdoors. During the summer, she participates in a subsistence lifestyle where she catches salmon with her family, picks berries from the tundra, and walks the coastal trail back home in Alaska.
